Humanities in the Global American South
This working group explores the impact of globalization in the American South through a focus on humanistic and psychological dimensions of global forces, especially as expressed in literature and in psychoanalysis. The group is composed of a combination of authors, psychologists, psychoanalysts, and others engaged in the fields of cultural exploration. We try to discern what is happening culturally and psychologically today in our lives within this region as part of globalization, through the expression of concrete experiences and representations. At each meeting, a member of the group presents a piece of his or her own writing or case study, followed by another member’s brief commentary, which is then offered up for discussion.
