Jefferson C.
Boyer is professor of Anthropology and founder of the
Goodnight Family Sustainable Development Program at
Appalachian State University. He writes on agrarian
struggles and rural development issues in Honduras,
Central America and Appalachia. He is currently working
on a book entitled Once Upon an Agrarian Nation: Honduras
and Modernity Battles in a Globalizing Mesoamerica.
This
Sawyer Seminar, funded by the Mellon Foundation, includes a year-long
series of working group meetings
and mini-conferences on the central theme of globalization and
the land. It is hosted by UNC's Center for Global Initiatives.
